Visiting Te Ngahere
Our class is named Te Ngahere so our teacher thought that it would be cool of we could make our class into a ngahere, so on Tuesday our class when to visit the Ngahere to look around and see what we could incorporate in to our class. We were a put into groups and each group was given a place in our class we had to change into a ngahere. My group has the job of making a set of shelves in to a tree, so we were look for things the we could make a put on the shelf to make it look like a tree. My group thought that we could make a vine wrap it around the shelf and then make moss, mushrooms and other little shrubs and put then in the corners. What do you think of our idea?

Turbo Touch
On Monday Whaea Shana taught our class a new game called turbo touch. Turbo touch is like Netball and rugby mixed together but you can’t kick the ball. To score a point, two passes must have been made to open the active zone. You can’t enter the active zone until it is open. The active zone is at both ends of the field. You can have 3 - 5 people in you team. If the person holding the ball gets touched with two hands it's a hand over. I enjoyed scoring points. I was good at get the ball to the active zone. Next time I could share the ball more with my team Have you ever played turbo touch before?

Newspaper Tower
Last week in Te Ngahere we made a newspaper tower. We could only use two big sheets of newspaper and thirty cm of sticky tape. First we discussed how we were going to make our tower be as tall as possible and not fall over. Then we assembled the tower. We designed the tower so that it looked like a telescope. After that we went and got our tower measured and our tower was 1.69 cm tall. That was only about 1-3 cm shorter than the teacher but it was taller than all of my group!!!!!!! Then we wrote a reflection on our work to say how we worked well and what we could do better.

Whanaungatanga
Last Week in Te Ngahere, we were learning about our hoe. We had to explain what our hoe are. There are four hoe they are; Kaha - being Strong, Tu Maia - Resilience, Whanaungatanga - Helping each other and Manaakitanga - respect.
We first got into groups of 2 or 3. My group was Breeze and myself. We decided to create a presentation about Whanaungatanga on canva. We first had to brainstorm it on a google doc and then we wrote our information on our created presentation. This is what we created hope you like it.

The Summer Learning Journey
Last week Taylor from the Summer Learning Journey came to our school to tell us about how the Summer Learning Journey can help us stay at the expected level of education during the summer holidays. The Summer Learning Journey helps you catch up with your reading and writing and then you post about it on your blog. They have done a survey on all the people that have done the Summer Learning Journey and the results where all the people who did the summer Learning Journey stayed at the expected level of education for their year and the people how did not do the summer Learning Journey went down the summer slide. The summer slide is when you haven’t been practising you reading and writing as much as you do in school and your reading and writing levels drop during the holidays. You also get to look at other peoples work on their blogs and comment on them. When you comment and post on your blog you get points. At the end of the holidays all of your points gets added up and whoever has the most points wins a cool prize. Did you know that it takes three month for you to get back to the level you where at at the begging of the holidays? Have you ever participated in the Summer Learning Journey?

Tessellations
In Te Ngahere we have been creating tessellations.
First the teacher gave us some mathematical words related to the
math we were doing. We had to find the meaning behind tesselating,
translation, rotation, reflection and symmetry. A Tessellation is an
arrangement of one or more shapes that are fitted together without
any gaps. After that we made a shape on our computer that could
be tessellated. After we decided to create a tessellation using quadrilaterals.
The shape that I decided to use looked almost the same as a Nike Tick,
when I had rotated the shape to line up to the rest of the other shapes
so there were no gaps showing. This is the DLO I have created about
Tessellations with Nevaeh.

Ki - o - rahi
Kia ora everyone, last week on the 30th of October there was Ki-o-rahi tournament at Simpson Park. It was great. We traveled from Paihia School to Simpson Park in Morewa. I went with Whaea Becks in the school van with 9 other students. I was a little nervous because we didn’t have many practises. Our first game we lost 21 : 1 I think we lost because we were playing a year 7 and 8 team. I think we did good in our first game. The second game we played we won 10-1. I was very happy. The third game we lost but I can’t remember the score. Next time we need to spread out evenly around the feld. When we had breaks in between the games we went to go and watch the year 7 and 8’s. The year 7 and 8’s were amazing. Our team didn’t make it into the semi finals but the year 7 and 8 team did. The year 7 and 8 team lost the semi finals but they tried their best and did great.
